Abstract

Every individual has the right to live with dignity and respect. Everyone wants to live in a society that ensures fairness, equality, security, peace, and where there is no discrimination. The Union Territory (UT) of  Jammu and Kashmir is known for its geo-strategic importance and  as a piece of heaven on earth, located in the Himalayan Mountains.  Since its inception, due to the conflict with Pakistan, Jammu and  Kashmir has becomethe hub for terrorists and militants over the past several decades. This paper attempts to understand the nature and development of terrorism and militancy in Jammu and Kashmir - how it impacted Universal Human Values where everyone in the region hoped for peace, human dignity, and a harmonious environment. The study analyzes the militancy, terrorism, and human rights situations before and after the abrogation of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution.
