Epistemology of Vibhāva in the light of Navya-Nyāya Language and Methodology

Abstract

PaṇḍitarājaJagannātha has elaborated the concept of Vibhāva by using Navya Nyāya Language in the Rasagaṅgādhara. The concept of Vibhāva shows one of the finest products of human intellect in the history of Sanskrit literary criticism. Using Navya Nyāya Language as a tool for ambiguous free concept Paṇḍitarāja simplified and critically analyzed Bhațțanāyaka’s understanding on Vibhāva and represented it in the form of universal model of uncommon cause of Rasa in the context Generalization (Sādhārṇīkaraṇam) .Without knowing proper methodology and structure of the Navya-Nyaāya Language, understanding of Vibhāva for modern Sanskrit scholars is quite tough.
